In the grand scope of things…today was rather boring. I woke up expecting news covering something bad happening on US soil. I guess I am what you call a pessimist. Either way, all throughout Hebrew this morning I was checking Yahoo and CNN for any and all “breaking news” stories. It wasn’t until about noon my time that I realized it was still the middle of the night in Texas. I guess I’ve been sitting on pins and needles all day. It’s a huge relief to hear that nothing unexpected happened.
Good sign: Life’s Been Good just came on my iTunes. I think it’s trying to tell me something.
Edit: Made an 86 on my first Hebrew test. Just meh. But hey…I passed. xD
After Ulpan today, I walked back to Kfar Studentim (Student Village) by myself. On the way back was when I called Yoram. ENTER: BACKSTORY!
When I made the decision to spend a semester in Jerusalem, many people gave me phone numbers of contacts to get in touch with if I needed anything while I was in Israel. I called my first one today. Yoram bar Nachum. Yoram is apparently a former El Al bigwig who lives in Jerusalem and is friends with my grandpa. I finally called him today. Funny story. He’s in Dallas till the end of the week and was hanging out with a family friend. Probably even seeing my grandpa by the end of the week.
I facepalmed. >.<
My original post-Ulpan plan was to head to Ben Yehuda with Robert in order to go to the post office and exchange more of my travelers checks. Then, Grace and Leo were going to join us in City Center when they were out of their Internship Orientation dealie. However, these ladies apparently misread the memo…or they didn’t get the memo… (“We need to talk about your TPS reports…Did you get the memo…?”) Esther ended up coming with Robert and I. Naturally…we get to the post office and their operating business hours are 8:00-3:00. That basically means….I really have no way of getting money out. >_> For a long while. After we gave up on our quest, we decided to take the Light Rail back to Kfar Studentim because it’s free…which is cheaper than the bus.
On a side note: While in City Center, we found the McDonalds. Twas delicious, in case you were wondering. 😉
I raided Grace’s apartment to discover what she was doing. Turns out, she had plans to walk to the nearby falafel store with a group of others. I tagged along…but it was closed.
After this second failed excursion, I returned to Grace’s apartment with her to annoy the crap out of serenade her. Kate and Grace helped me chose a song to sing for my audition on Wednesday. We finally decided on the first verse and chorus of Out Tonight from Rent. It was also established (finally) that I sing Maureen’s part in Take Me or Leave Me better. There was much debate on this subject…because we’re nerds…and I’m confused/confusing.
I then went at attempting to pay them back for it by breaking (and subsequently fixing) their internet. >_>
Grace then patiently explained how to do my homework to me.
She has temporarily been dubbed Grace McAwesomePants. (Surprise Grace!!)
And honestly…I kept hoping that if I went away and found something else to do, something more to write about would come to me. Instead, I’m just getting tired. >_> I guess it’s off to bed for me.
