Competitive vs. For Fun

There are four different ways to participate in GISHWHES. When you sign up for the very first time ( it will ask you to choose between a Competitive or a “For Fun” team. If you think your choice ends there, you might be sorely mistaken.

Types of Teams

My first two years, I invited all of my friends (mostly in Dallas, Texas) to compete with me. By the end of my second year, I realized that my competitiveness eclipsed theirs by roughly 78%. My third year, I went in search of a competitive team. I found Team FreeWill and, after a Skype interview, was invited onto the team. This is a team that chats on FB year round (no really…constant pinging…) They have their system down because they talk about it year-round.

I’ll be the first to tell you that a Competitive – Created in Advance team is what worked best for me. However, that’s not how everyone else wants to participate. That’s not everyone’s definition of GISHWHES. So make sure you find what works best for YOU or you might find yourself at odds with strangers and friends alike.
